A Date for your Diary!

Did you know....ABC's newest comedy The Librarians will air from Wednesday October 31.It will replace Summer Heights High at 9:30pm.The comedy series is devised, performed and produced by husband wife team Robyn Butler (Thank God You're Here) and Wayne Hope (Stupid Stupid Man, The Micallef Program).Butler plays a highly-strung Head Librarian of the Middleton Interactive Learning Centre, and is completely insensitive to the needs of her eclectic group of employees and the public in general. The 6 part series also features Kim Gyngell, Josh Lawson, Heidi Arena and Bob Franklin. Immersed in planning for Book Week, O'Brien's focus is diverted when her ex-best friend and nemesis, Christine Grimwood (Roz Hammond) applies for the Children's Librarian's position. While completely unsuitable, Christine desperately needs a responsible job before fronting court on drug trafficking charges. Frances refuses but soon finds herself forced to hire Christine. Also starring are Bob Franklin, Josh Lawson, Heidi Arena, Nicole Nabout and Kim Gyngell. Premieres 9:30pm Wednesday October 31 on ABC.

October Update!

I will try to update this blog once a week - Fridays seem to be the best day. What a busy week in the Libraries! Who still has their eardrums left after the drumming workshops in Springwood and Katoomba Libraries?

This week has seen the staff work hard on school holiday activities, statistics and upcoming events. I sent around the September Report to all Library staff. I have to provide these Reports monthly to Community & Corporate who give us the money each year to run the Libraries. I try to provide as much information in them so they are aware of the service that we provide to all parts of the Community. Did you see that the Visits were up by 3% on this time last year? And the Internet usage statistics are up by 15%. Seeing these statistics each month remind me why we open our doors 6 days a week.

There are lots of upcoming events. Please promote the Wentworth Falls Book Group. The next meeting will be held on Saturday 20 October. This Book Groups wants to operate a little bit differently to the previous ones - the next session will be to bring a book you have read recently (doesn't matter if you enjoyed it or not!) for discussion and it will be an open forum. I am looking forward to seeing how this will work.

One of the biggest events of the year is about to happen - the Library Halloween Party. Following on from the extravaganza of last year, the Civic Centre is Springwood has been booked for Friday night 2 November. Please come along and help out - I promise it will be a huge and enjoyable night!

Talk to you next week

Welcome to the Library Staff Tools blog

Hi everyone,
I will use this blog to update staff on Library Happenings. Please familiarise yourself with the postings on this blog. I will add recommended websites, pictures, links and anything else you want to see - this is our Library Staff blog! I have added the Staff Updates Newsletter down on the bottom RHS under Links. This will take you to the Council Intranet, where the Staff Updates have been added at the bottom of Library Staff tools as a download. Not a direct link at this stage but at least you can refer to them whenever you want!
Enjoy!
Vicki
