I really enjoyed this week. Learning about wikis was a lot of fun. I liked seeing how they were being used in Libraries and other workplaces. My favourite wiki was the Wookiepedia:
It was interesting - Wookiepedia was fun (Star Wars). Wiki didn't excite me as much as the weeks for blogger/Flickr/rss. I think our library Wiki is the BEST!!!!!!
Although it is the most boring and obvious of choices, I have to confess that I use Wikipedia on an almost daily level, either at work or at home. Yep, I am an addict. It is so full of populare culture stuff that you wouldn't find anywhere else. At work I use it as a tool to help guide me in the right direction because it is so quick and easy to access. I rarely confess to customers what I am doing- I just get a bit of additional info that helps me on the way to finding more "legitimate" sources!
Must say that I had only used Wikipedia a couple of times prior to this training and that was when I was following up info from one of my customers. I do like our procedure manual on wiki. Can you enlighten me... did you consider placing Readers in the Mist on wiki?
I had thought wikis would be rather predictable until I discovered quilting and textile blogs which were quite exciting. (Yes, I'm predictable.)I can now see lots of uses for wikis.
I have really enjoyed exploring wikis. They are certainly being used in an amazing variety of ways and places. Many libraries are doing great things - including us of course!
